For motor and workshop

Booked in, worked on, collected.

For garages, mobile mechanics, tyre fitters, bodyshops, valeters and recovery operators. Result Studio holds the booking diary, the estimate, the job history for that vehicle and the invoice, so nobody has to shout across the workshop to find out whose car is on ramp two.

Jobs from booked in, through the workshop and awaiting parts, to collected
Day one

It arrives set up for you, not for a sales office.

Enquiry, Booked in, In workshop, Awaiting parts, Ready, Collected. That is the board you open on, not a sales funnel. You get Estimates rather than Proposals and Customers rather than Organisations, and the queues are Bookings, Warranty and Accounts.

Awaiting parts is its own column on purpose. It is the state that costs garages the most money and the one most software pretends does not exist.

None of it is locked. Rename anything, add stages, delete what you do not use.

Diary

The booking, and everything about that vehicle.

A booking carries the customer, the work, the estimate and the history. Add the registration and make as custom fields and every previous visit for that vehicle sits on the record, so when somebody rings about a noise you fixed in March, you can read what you did.

  • Bookings on a shared diary the whole workshop can see
  • Full job history per customer and vehicle
  • Custom fields for registration, make, model and mileage
A job record with the customer, the value and what happens next
Parts

The column that stops jobs disappearing.

When a job is waiting on a part it moves to Awaiting parts rather than sitting in the workshop column pretending to be progressing. Anything that has sat too long flags itself, so the order nobody chased turns up on a screen instead of in a complaint.

  • A distinct state for work you cannot finish yet
  • Alerts on jobs that have not moved for too long
  • Notes and photos against the job so the reason is recorded
The Awaiting parts column, where jobs wait without being forgotten
Getting paid

Estimate, authorise, invoice.

Send the estimate before you start, so the extra hour is agreed rather than argued. Turn it into an invoice when the vehicle goes out, and let Result Studio chase what is unpaid at three, seven and fourteen days past due.

  • Estimates the customer can accept online
  • Invoice from the same record as the job
  • Automatic chasing that stops the moment they pay

Straight answers

Including what it does not do.

Does it look up a registration with the DVLA?

No. You enter the registration and vehicle details yourself, or on a custom field. There is no DVLA or vehicle data lookup, and that is worth knowing before you switch if you rely on one.

Can it text the customer when the car is ready?

It emails them, and it can notify you when they reply. There is no SMS sending, so if text is how your customers actually respond, keep whatever you use for that.

Does it order parts or track stock?

No. It records that a job is waiting on parts and lets you note what and from whom, but it does not talk to a factor or hold stock levels. Parts ordering stays wherever it is now.

Can I see the workshop week at a glance?

You get a shared calendar of bookings by person and a board you can filter. What you do not get is a ramp-by-ramp planner with drag and drop across bays. If that is what decides it for you, say so, because it changes what we build next.

MOT reminders?

Not automatically. You can schedule an activity a year out when you do the work, and it will appear on the diary when it is due, but nothing generates the reminder list for you.
